It’s been another relatively quiet week for me theatre-wise. I headed to the cinema as planned to see Prima Facie, which was just as good as I remember it being live on stage. I always worry that the emotional impact won’t be as strong through a screen but it was there. My fellow audience members were having very in-depth conversations as I left the cinema so the piece certainly did its job.
On Sunday I made a return trip to Hadestown for my friend’s birthday treat. I was with two people who had never seen the show before. I always love seeing shows through fresh eyes like that - I love feeling that joy of discovering something new through them. I loved watching their reactions to certain numbers and the incredible vocals. It was a treat for me too to see the new Orpheus and Eurydice - Dylan Wood might be my favourite ever Orpheus!
I was also chuffed with these seats in the grand circle. Dress circle is my ideal level, and although I don't mind heights being too high up can sometimes feel a bit distant. But for a decent price (around £40 depending on which date you choose) I was really pleased with the view, which only restricts a few moments at the front of the stage. The Lyric Theatre can be a bit tricksy with sightlines due to its pretty sharp curves, but these seats on the aisle seemed to be the perfect compromise between price and view. Definitely worth a look as the cheapest seats are sadly pretty horrendous if you want to actually see the show!
Happy ticket-buying!
