It’s Chriiiiistmaaaas! Well, almost, but I’m sending this out a bit early. I’m finishing work today so thought it would be a good chance to wrap things up before the celebrations begin.
Sadly we’re still in the midst of rising cases and shows being cancelled, including Scotland venues cancelling entire runs due to the new capacity restrictions. But I’m trying to roll with the festive spirit and hope that all will be ok. I’m cautiously planning for a flurry of theatre trips between Christmas and New Year, taking advantage of rush tickets and last minute offers to keep costs down. But if you don’t feel as though you can go to the theatre right now, take a look back at my newsletter from last week where I wrote about alternative ways to support theatre in the tough times.
Right, that’s me over and out for 2021. Thank you to everyone who has read, shared, recommended and signed up to Bums on Seats this year. Every time you tell me you used one of the offers and saved loads of money it makes me so happy! I can’t tell you enough how grateful I am for your support and it’s led to some big plans for Bums on Seats in 2022. Watch this space…
I’ll be back in the first week of January with (hopefully) your usual weekly news, discounts and competitions. If any restrictions are brought back I’ll make sure to send you some digital treats and ideas instead. But I’m full of positive mental attitude today, so I’m crossing fingers that theatres stay open and sending much love to anyone isolating this week.
Happy ticket-buying, and happy Christmas!

I’m kind of a big deal
If you want to cling on to the Christmas spirit for a little longer, TodayTix has reduced loads of tickets to Pantoland at the Palladium. There was a 24-hour offer on them yesterday with loads of seats on all levels at £15. There seems to be lots of them left still, but it’s now coming up as exclusive prices.
Looking at the cheap ones? I’d go for the back of the dress circle or front of the upper circle. The overhang at the back of the stalls can really cut off the stage at the Palladium so wouldn’t be my first choice.
The Palladium pantos are renowned for being pretty good and usually sell out so this is a great offer. I wonder if any of their regular performers will turn up to teach on this new pantomime degree!
Hey big spender
Here’s your discounts, offers and cheap seats this week.
While browsing for this week’s deals, I noticed that TodayTix has already labelled some shows with ‘Boxing Day Sale’. It’s not been advertised yet but it seems there will be some offers on 26 Dec with & Juliet, Come From Away and Dear Evan Hansen included.
Once again, don’t forget the New Year Sale (actually at New Year next week). Tickets to top West End shows available from £10.
Save a whopping 76% on Circus 1903.
There’s still lots of great £30 seats available for the Rocky Horror Show at Guildford over Christmas.
Save up to £49.50 on Jersey Boys in the West End in January. Would recommend the £39.50 seats.
Get best seats for £20 for the Theatre Royal Bath panto, Cinderella. Use code FAIRY20, valid 28, 29 & 30 Dec at 7pm only.
More best available seats, this time for School of Rock. Catch the show in Manchester for just £29.50.
Save up to 40% on The Drifters Girl.
Get 50% off The Woman in Black.
Save 50% on tickets to The Fir Tree at The Globe.
If you’re stuck at home, watch Constellations from the Donmar on demand for half the price. There’s also South Pacific from Chichester Festival Theatre.
And don’t forget there’s loads of theatre on TV over Christmas too. Check out this handy guide thanks to London Theatre!
Don’t throw away your shot
Competitions, on-sales and announcements.
If you’re a bit wary of travelling on public transport at the moment, driving into London could be an option. The congestion charge is suspended between 25 Dec and 3 Jan meaning you’ll save £15 per trip. Parking can still be pricy but try Just Park to book ahead and save money. The National Theatre car park is also quite reasonable and still open despite the building closing until 4 Jan.
And finally, try this mega giveaway from the Orchard Theatre with tickets to five shows up for grabs.
That’s all for this week. If you enjoyed the newsletter, please tell your friends. I’m also open to suggestions and requests for certain discounts, so do drop into my DMs. Right, time to get festive and watch Muppets Christmas Carol! 🐸👻
