Well after last week’s topic of choice, I’m pleased to say that normal service has resumed today and I’m back to talking about theatre trips and tickets. I’ve been lucky to see three great shows in the past week and I saw all of them for a grand total of… £45! And it’s because of my old favourite of the discount schemes, rush tickets.
First up I did a two-show day at the National Theatre on Saturday, seeing two new takes on classics. First the matinee of Phaedra, based on the Greek myth, then the evening performance of Romeo & Julie, based on, well the obvious tragic love story from Shakespeare! You might think that amounts to a day of heavy content - death and the like… but there was surprisingly a bunch of humour throughout them both. If I’m honest, the only real similarity for Romeo & Julie was the title. I enjoyed watching both of them though, and it was made even better with two fantastic seats. I paid just £10 for each using the National Theatre Friday Rush scheme.
Then it was over to the TodayTix rush on Monday to catch Noises Off before it leaves the West End - another new version of a classic farce. And this one very much sticks to the source material! It was such good fun, and these amazing seats in the dress circle were just £25 each! I’ll say it before and I’ll say it again - being last minute can save you so much money in the theatre world.
Happy ticket-buying!

You may have already seen it following the awesome press shot of all the shows involved, but this week saw the launch of London Theatre Week! Loads of West End shows are reducing tickets for performances over the next few weeks - some are as little as £15! Here are some of my top picks for great deals in the discount event.
Bonnie & Clyde - £15 seats in the grand circle
Grease - £15 seats available
Noises Off - £15 seats in the back row of the dress circle or the grand circle
Great British Bake Off - £15 tickets available but some of the £25 ones are pretty good if you can pay that
Spongebob Squarepants - some good seats at £15 and £25
Newsies - loads of good seats at £25
Frozen - seats from £25, but for £35 you can get the back of the dress circle
The same deals are available across the different agents, so pick your favourite and enjoy some great discounts in February and March!

Competitions, on-sales and announcements.
It’s all happening on the touring front this week. There’s going to be new UK tours of Hamilton and Aladdin! Check individual venues for on-sale dates.
There’s also new show announcements for London too. The National Theatre’s The Crucible will be transferring to the Gielgud Theatre in June. General booking opens on 9 Mar at midday.
The National also announced a new show at the Olivier called Dear England - it will follow the story of Gareth Southgate and the England football team. It’s written by James Graham (who was behind the amazing Quiz) so likely worth catching even if you’re not a sports fan. Tickets are on sale to the public on 9 Mar at midday.
Six has extended in the West End - you can now book until April 2024!
And finally, you could win tickets to Jersey Boys with dinner included too!
That’s all for this week. If you enjoyed the newsletter, please tell your friends. I’m also open to suggestions and requests for certain discounts, so do drop into my DMs. Right, time to spend the weekend writing and sending wedding invitations, eek! 🖃
